They will be featuring songs from classic Holiday films both old and new, such as White Christmas, The Polar Express, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and the Little Drummer Boy. Love comics? Be sure to check out this exhibit on works by or influenced by African Americans. Showcasing contributions of companies such as Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics and Marvel Comics and featuring the work of both mainstream and outside mainstream Black creators this exhibit is a sure hit for any comic lover!

Do you enjoy exotic animals? Do you enjoy running? Why not combine your two true loves at the Zoo Zoom 2013 at the Maryland Zoo? Get in a brisk 8k run or maybe just a mile family run with all your fellow animal lovers November 24th. The 8k is unfortunately sold out (register early next year!), but there are still slots available for the 1 mile family and kid run. And you can always spectate and cheer on your friends as they race towards the finish line past the lions, tigers and bears… oh my!

This Halloween cover show is sure to be spooky good. The evening will featuring bands covering Nirvana, Misfits, Saves the Day, The Birthday Party, Slayer, a 90s Heavy Medley band and power hits from the 2000s by Ecco. With room for dancing and a great place to reveal your creepy costume, this Star- Spangled Halloween will rock your socks and you will definitely be able to sing along to ever song!
Tickets are sold at the door and $5 if you come in costume, $7 if you’re a party pooper…. and $230,189,231,212 if you’re a jerk and you’ll prob get kicked out. Check out their event on facebook and head down to the Flag House on Saturday!

Chip Kidd, acclaimed and accomplished author, will be giving a presentation and conversation for the Illustration department. Chip Kidd has written two novels and has a hand in graphic design and graphic comics, even publishing a Batman episode with DC. The New York based author has revolutionized the packaging of books so much that he’s made it into an art of its’ own. He will be sharing his experiences and values with his audience and the event is open to the public.

Crossaints + Donuts = CRONUTS. This magical combination of flavors began in New York City and has made it’s way down to our city and we are very excited about it. Regi’s stated on Facebook that ”We’ve got CRONUTS. A homemade croissant donut stuffed with fresh strawberry & vanilla pudding. WHOA!” If you have a sweet tooth and love donuts and/or croissants, then you should try a cronut. Head down to Regi’s and get yours!

If you attend this infamous ghost walk, you are in for a little fright. The Mount Vernon GhostWalk can provide all you are, and are not, looking for regarding the history of Mount Vernon. With hidden spirits around every corner, it may just give you the scare you’ve been needing. In the cultural center of the city, you will be made aware of those who have checked into Belvedere, and those who never got to check out. You will walk past the beautiful homes of the area and the locals who still keep tabs on their former residences. With a slight scare and a lot of history, the tour will not disappoint.
