WLOY has been growing steadily since we first went full-time on March 19, 2003. Since those early days we’ve picked up some great recognition from campus to national. A few of them are listed here because, well, it makes us feel good about ourselves and a little bit of bragging doesn’t hurt.


2006


* WLOY raises over $10,000 to support the reconstruction of Xavier University in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina

* Baltimore’s City Paper votes WLOY’s “Shut Up I’m On The Radio” show Best Local Music Radio Show.


2009


* Finalist – National Student Production Awards for Best Radio Promotion.


2010


* WLOY raises over $22,000 to support Haitian earthquake relief

* WLOY selected as Club of the Year and our Operations Manager receives the AMDG Community Award

* Invited to join the 38th annual Mayor’s Christmas Parade – the only university and the only non-commercial media invited!


2011


* Selected as host station, play-by-play and music providers for the inaugural President’s Cup High School Baseball Tournament, created by Baltimore City Council President Jack Young. Students call Championship broadcast play-by-play live at Camden Yards.

* Top 25 College Radio Station, at the mtvU Woodie Awards

* WLOY receives significant coverage in the Baltimore Sun article on college media, including a sidebar focus on our fundraising efforts!

* Winner – National Student Production Awards – Best Community Involvement: What Happens Next? program.

* Winner – National Student Production Awards – Best Podcast: Both Feet In program

* Winner – Associated Collegiate Press Best of Show – Best Podcast: What Happens Next?

* Selected as one of 2 college stations to perform a 2 hour live broadcast from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.

* Invited to return to Mayor’s Christmas Parade!
